But recently, its just been blinking and then shutting off. I tried changing the batteries, usb cords, and even syncing the xbox and the controller before coming back the xbox is far away from the pc.

Just reset the controller. Remove the batteries and use data-sync usb cable. Removed the batteries, same issue. I believe I'm already using a data sync cable.
There is a reset process, try that please. Is that when you sync them with XBox, or is it something different? Already done this. I am having the same problem. Always been working fine until recently. Don't listen to what these people are saying, its not gonna work. The way I got mine to work again was to exit steam completely, then turn my Xbox One Wireless Controller on. Then I open steam up again and works just fine. I'm not sure if there was a recent update to steam, I don't really pay attention, but this was a way I was able to fix it.

After that, all the controllers get again disconnected after 5 seconds when being on. I have updated the controller firmware to the latest. I think this issue started after Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

However I think I found the culprit. Do you use Steam? Because if I have Steam turned on I cannot turn the controller back on after it was turned off once. If I exit Steam and try to sync again, the controllers stay on. I've tried this more than once and it works. As I have disabled it I don't have problems with the controller anymore.
